The State of Ohio has extended a program that offers training reimbursement dollars to qualifying employers. Now in its third year, the Ohio Incumbent Workforce Training Voucher Program is designed to offset specific training costs for eligible employers who are upgrading the skills of their workforce. To be eligible, you must demonstrate that by receiving funding assistance, your business will not only obtain a skilled workforce, but will also improve your company’s processes and competitiveness.
Here’s how it works: the program, funded through the State of Ohio in partnership with private funds, provides reimbursement up to $4,000 per employee per fiscal year against qualified training costs, with a cap of $250,000 for a fiscal year. In this third phase of the program, the State of Ohio is awarding $29.4 million on a first-come first-serve basis for the period Aug. 1, 2014 to Dec. 31, 2015.
An eligible employer must be a for-profit entity in a state-designated target industry with a facility located in Ohio that has been in continuous operation for the 12 months immediately prior to the application submittal.
