As part of my senior project at Skoda Minotti, I am writing a daily blog that summarizes my activities each day at the firm and includes my insights and learnings about the field of marketing.
With two days left in my senior project, I’ve started to think about how much I have learned during the past six days. Honestly, it’s pretty incredible how much I information about the marketing world I’ve taken in during such a short amount of time. Everyone here has been extremely nice and comforting during my time at Skoda Minotti. Today is day seven, and I am still learning new things every day. Today, I had one meeting, and I also continued my work on my research project.
10:00 a.m. – noon
I started the day off by doing more research for my project. The research process is starting to get easier the more I continue to work. This project is helping me to learn a lot more about the world of marketing—specifically as it relates to accounting and financial services firms.
I met with Skoda Minotti Marketing Coordinator, Brandon Ferris. I connected really well with Brandon because he is a year out of college and it turns out we have a lot in common. I learned that Brandon originally started studing communications in college. During his sophomore year, he switched to marketing. The advice I got from Brandon was to keep an open mind, just in case I decide to switch my major.
2:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
For the remainder of my day, I worked on the research project. I’m starting to realize now that, in a marketing office, just like any office, work has to get done, and sometimes it takes quite a bit of time and effort to grind it out. I’m really happy to be a part of that here—at least for a short time. I’m grateful that Jonathan and his staff have trusted me with this assignment. I look forward to the remainder of my senior project here at Skoda Minotti.
