How long do you spend writing your typical blog post? One hour? Three hours? Even longer?
According to research by Orbit Media Studios, time spent on a typical blog post has risen to more than 2.5 hours per post in 2015. Sixteen percent of their respondents spent longer than four hours per post on average.
However much time you spend on your average post, it’s time you’re not spending on other areas of your business – so you better make it count.
Making the most of your blog post starts with research:
- Is this a topic that interests your audience?
- Do you have something new and/or interesting to say about the topic?
- Is it a topic that can attract lasting search traffic to your website?
Most bloggers often have the first two items covered, however, the third item can often be a challenge. There are tools, such as Google Keyword Planner, that can give us a general feel for the search volume around a topic. However, without additional investigation, it is difficult to determine how well your website is going to rank for a given topic when compared to the current top ranking websites.
Without the knowledge of how your specific site is likely to perform for a particular topic, those 2-3 hours you invest in actually writing your typical post may be spent in vain.
We’re pleased to say that there is now a different and better way to research your topics ahead of time and best position your blog post for long-term search success.
