City of Akron Amnesty Program – Immediate Action Required

The City of Akron Income Tax Division is launching an amnesty program for businesses in Akron or one of its Joint Economic Development Districts (JEDDs).  Businesses that have not yet paid the full amount due on their Akron income taxes qualify for amnesty, even those referred for legal action. This program is available from March 5, 2012 through May 4, 2012.  To take advantage of the amnesty, the business should file delinquent tax returns and pay the outstanding tax and interest in full, without additional penalties and/or pay tax and interest in full on tax returns previously filed but not yet paid, without additional penalties.  There are installment plans available, but only those delinquent amounts that are paid off by May 4, 2012 will qualify for penalty relief.

Think you may owe Akron or JEDD taxes for tax years 2010 or earlier? Post a comment below or contact our Tax Planning & Preparation Group at 440-449-6800 immediately.
